Gary, Keith and Ron Talk Up New York Mets Oldtimer’s Day

Gary, Keith and Ron all seemed like they would be in favor of the Mets bringing back Oldtimer’s Day.

SNY once again showed a cool old video, this of the All-Star Game where DiMaggio and Mays came to Shea (that’s in my 1978 yearbook if I remember, so I will guess it was 1977 although I thought on TV they said 1975 – I could look it up but it’s 11:30pm and I’m lazy.)

Anyway, the guys started talking about how cool Oldtimer’s Day was, and I agree.

The 1986 Mets are all 50-ish now so could play a half-speed game without embarrassing themselves.  Mix in some surviving ’69ers, some of the 00’s and some fan favorites (that would be Lee Mazzilli and John Stearns) and we could have a nice afternoon some day in 2010.

Is there any reason not to do it?

  1. There's no good reason not to do it, just like there's no good reason not to revive Banner Day. As with everything else you have to put yourself in the Wilpons' shoes and ask, "What's in it for me?"

  2. LETS PUT STASTICS ON UMPIRES MAYBE THEN THEY WOULD PAY BETTER ATTENTION TO THE GAME?????????DKOVE.
