Looking For New "New York Mets Stuff" At Citi Field

As I toured Citi Field yesterday I didn’t see much, if any, new “Mets stuff.”   There definitely weren’t player banners hanging in the halls, and I probably would have noticed a giant statue of Seaver…but something did catch my eye.

If you squint, look above the blue Citi Field sign and look through the windows.

Look on the walls – there are baseball card type posters (?) on the walls of whatever is above the Rotunda.

As I said last night, I don’t have super command of Citi the way I did Shea.  I guess we’re looking at the Caesar’s Club?   I’ve never been to this space so I’m not sure, and I’m sure the first person to comment will correct my mistake.

I  never noticed them before Thursday afternoon.

If you take the main escalator in the Rotunda and look up you’ll see these.

Student of The Game wrote me:

The baseball cards aren’t new; they are on the Empire Suite Level (200’s) and have been there all season. I know because I sat in a suite in May.

What I did notice about the cards, though, walking down the hallways, was something really cool. I saw a blowup of a card that was from Topps ’93 (around the end of my collecting days), then next to it was a Topps ’92, then a ’91, etc. Basically, every Topps set from 62-08 is represented, in order, with no Met appearing on the wall more than once. Excellent job on that.

That’s neat.  I wish they had put them somewhere where an average fan could see them.
Unfortunately I see no new “Mets Stuff” at Citi Field as of yesterday afternoon.
