Thoughts On The "New York Mets Stuff" And More From David Howard

Some thoughts about the new changes and the Giants Uniforms in which the Mets are undefeated.

Let’s start with David Howard (thanks Newsday):

“Admittedly, we did underestimate the interest that our customers and fans have in seeing our imagery, especially on the concourses,” said Dave Howard, executive vice president, business operations. “We heard them. Then we decided where we can start to do things immediately and respond to their desires.”

Immediately?   Ok he’s trying, I won’t fight.

“It wasn’t a high priority for us,” he said, “because of all the other needs we had to get this building open.”

Um…I better send you over to Newsday before my head explodes.

I was incorrect, they added all the various “championships” not just the four World Series appearances.  I’m not sure you need a Wild Card up there, even the division titles but since they represent Mets history I’m ok with it.  At least now the Mariners will need to get out a paint brush instead of being able to just move in on a Tuesday.

As for the uniforms – I liked them a lot.  Yeah that N Y is weird and very-retro but I thought it worked.  I actually wouldn’t mind this as an alternate in 2010.

The uniforms were blue.  That shouldn’t be a big deal but unfortunately it is here in the 21st century.

I liked the Mr. Met on the back (no the Giants of long ago didn’t have Mr. Met, so what).   No names on the back which always looks great even if my opinion on that is unpopular.  The Giants also didn’t have numbers but I’m not going to suggest the Mets run out there in blank shirts.   It was a good look – what did everyone else think?

Media Goon, who took some pics last night which I will process soon, observes that tomorrow is not part of his “Sunday package.”   Goon, at this point you probably wish that September wasn’t part of the package.

This headline “Citi Field Is Starting To Feel Like Home For Mets Fans” in the News seems kind of like propaganda.  I wasn’t there last night but was that really the mood, “Wow this is starting to feel like home.”

I see a few people emailed pictures – thanks all – I will find some coffee and get my Saturday together and then start plugging away.
