Some quickies from the inbox:

Re:  Amazin’ 1969 New York Mets Celebaration“:

What is up with leaving out Boswell?

Howie Rose made a mistake.   Gary Cohen caught it and immediately addressed it on TV.  Unfortunate but we shouldn’t let it tarnish a great ceremony.

Re:  “Checking In On New Traditions For Citi Field“:

If we can’t have the fireworks have something cool like loud sirens or something cool..the apple is just too plain!!

Re:  “Utley’s Corner“:

Die hard Phils fan here…drove up to the game at Citi Field for last nights game…sat in Utley’s Corner and guy in front of me has big orange sign with “Utley’s Corner” on it…the Mets fans weren’t too happy when he put one about 10 seats down from us haha…

I know I am in the minority but I kinda like Utley’s Corner.  Hey give the man some props.  If he has a good game today he might become the all-time leader in home runs at Citi Field.   Maybe if someone on the Mets could hit some out we wouldn’t be talking about this.  Don’t get mad at the Phillies because they play 162 games every year.  Sometimes you have to respect the other guys.

As I’ve said before, had the Mets come back from 7 down with 17 to play, then came back again in ’08 to win the World Series we would be honoring this bunch like no other.   Hats off to the Phils.  Sorry if this makes people mad, but I’m not the one blowing leads and sitting out 5 months with a mysterious leg injury.

Re:  “The Mets Police Guide To Being Cheap About Parking…“:

Great tip thanks. Parked here today. No problems.

Thanks.  People got mad at me for giving away a “secret.”   Corona’s been there since 1964 everyone.  10 extra Mets Police readers won’t ruin anything.  Let me wrap up on a happy note;

DyHrdMET has left a new comment on your post “Amazin’ 1969 New York Mets Celebaration“:

I liked it. I thought the Mets actually did a good job (hard to imagine HOW they could have screwed this up, aside from omitting a player’s name). I said in my blog that Howie Rose showed more joy introducing the event and players than I’ve ever seen in him, including at Shea Goodbye.

And that’s a real interesting find by Newsday (good job finding it there) in the part about working with Nolan Ryan’s schedule and job to schedule the event. It’s an actual sign that Mets management “gets it” (and I never thought about his absence at Shea Goodbye at all before reading that story).
