Alternate Caps: Japan Series Edition

The Giants are playing the Fighters in the Japan Series.  We look at their alternate caps.

First, let’s educate ourselves on the basic look.  Do the Giants always have that orange on the face of the brim?

I think the Fighters (or inaccurately the “Ham Fighters” as I started calling them in 5th grade) lose this battle

Hmmm….I guess if you are a kid I wouldn’t mock you.  If you were a 40 year old guy, probably.   At least it maintains the team’s colors, so even in Japan there is Uniform Unanimity.

Our last cap is a 1982 Ham Fighters throwback.   Pretty ugly.   Giants take the battle of the Japan alternate caps.   You say this was a short battle?  If you can find alternate Japan league caps send them my way.   I don’t think New Era has discovered Japan yet.

  1. Yeah, Yomiuri always has the orange brim, as far as I'm aware; the underside of the brim is a grey/beige. It's a good cap, and has served me well, along with my 'Shea Final Weekend' Mets cap.

Also, this is Japan we're talking about. I'm surprised the Giants don't have some crazy panda-bear cap with giant ears.

  2. Oops, looks like I was not far off:

Well, it's not a cap, but there's probably one out there like this.

Perusing the shop (dang, that'd be easier if I understood more 'nihongo') I saw this little number which I found pretty hideous:

Don't let the powers-that-be in Mets-land see this; it's just the kind of thing they'd go for as an everyday uniform:

Finally, with collectables like this, is it any wonder the Giants are called the Yankees of Japan? They have the same arrogance:
