An A-Plus For Mets Yearbook 1971!

I absolutely loved Mets Yearbook 1971 and it is exactly what the team
and SNY need to do more of (and less Chris Carlin filler). This was
the old "channel 9 rain delay film" that I have mentioned off and on
since I started the blog.

How about the cap Kiner wore. It was blue with the Mets baseball logo
on it. Never saw that!

Hopefully people will appreciate Bud Harrelson after seeing the
clips. Bud's goal was to win multiple World Series!n stole 28 bases –
you do that at SS these days and people love you.

The Mets used to have something called Old Timers Day which featured
Brooklyn Dodgers and also something called Banner Day! I hope David
Howard watched.

The mayors trophy game! The mets used to play the yanks midseason and
it was a big deal.

So nice to hear Bob Murphy's voice.

Typing as I watch – cool to see Kiner coaching. He is wearing a road
uni with the baseball cap, but Singleton wearing the home pins. Both
uniforms look better than what is worn now. Note the blue was deeper.

The Mets had some "prospect" named Kenny Martinez. I have never heard
of him. Awesome.

Looks like the Mets made a great trade for '72 by getting Jim
Fregosi! They hyped him pretty hood in the film.

Odd for me to see Tim Foli at third since I knew him only as a SS when
he came back to the Mets.

Really not much about Seaver in this, nor Gil.

Tug had 11 wins and 8 saves. Some other guy who I never heard of had
12 saves. Seaver 20 wins but 21 complete games! The game has changed.

Love the deep blue jackets. Why can't they just ho back to his look?

Loved seeing the old scoreboard messages. The text board was covered
up by a Bud ad for 25 years at the end.

Thanks SNY, keep it coming!!!! Right now I feel the best I have
about the team than I have in months. Next week is 1984 which is my
personal favorite season.
