Black ski caps and blue ballcaps?

..I must be a prophet, I actually was at Dunkin as I mentioned in the Bonilla post.

I need someone to explain the Mets uniform thought process to me.

All week the Mets wore various ugly combinations of uniforms.  We saw the hybrids (for the newbies, those are blue/black caps with the NY logo that you can’t see on TV) a few days and on Thursday we saw the dreaded black uniforms and black caps.

On Friday night, the Mets gave away these ski caps.  Y’all see what color they are, right?

So what did the Mets wear?

BLUE.  White pinless with blue caps and blue stirrups.

HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?

The one night it would make sense to wear black they wear the blue.   I can’t get a straight answer on who is picking the uniforms on any given night, but shouldn’t there be someone to coordinate such things?   Shouldn’t there be some guy in a corner office who says “hey let’s wear the black tonight.”   Even I would have said to wear the black on Friday.

I’m out of my mind with this stuff.   Someone, PLEASE, explain to me why they went with blue on Friday.  (Things you’d never think I would say).

At least they are winning, but the organization does have a way of being maddening.  I guess that’s where I come in.

  1. Frankly, I’m just glad that the Mets finally won a game in their “OFFICIAL” home uniform (now 1-2).

Now, if you want promotional tie-ins with the game-worn unis, I suggest Creamsicle Saturdays. Have the Mets wear an orange cap (opposite day) and jersey, and sell creamsicles, charging 62 cents for the first 3 innings, then 69 cents the next 3, and finally 86 cents till the end of the game.

  2. I hear you, Chief. Right before the game last night, I went into my closet and decided, “Oh, what the heck? It’s Friday night. May as well match.” and pulled out the black cap that I NEVER wear anymore, only to plop down in front of the TV and see them in blue.

Speaking of blue, I noticed an awful lot of blue shirts in the crowd for them to be such a poor seller.

  3. A friend of mine was telling me that when a team that wears blue caps comes to town, Charlie likes to put the Mets on the field wearing hybrids or blacks to better differentiate the teams on the field. I don’t know how true that is, but I went to a Mets-Marlins game last year in which both teams wore black caps, so why not differentiate when a team wearing black comes to town? It will be intersting to test this theory when the Dodgers come to town next week.

  4. @nick = I don’t have a problem so much with the fact that they wear black (and will be wearing it for a long time to come, according to Shannon). It just bothers me that they wear it SO MUCH. After all, they still list the blue cap as their official home hat.

    1. you got me there that they where it too much black im just saying that shannon needs too calm down about the use of black. its like when they wear it , he has too make a comotion about it. it really gets on your nervs when he post so much articals on black. plus i wasnt refering to you when i wrote the other post so dont think i was bashing you or anything;)
