Stars and Stripes, Mets Yearbook and Cheesy Jerseys

If my brain processed the information correctly, SNY promoted Mets Yearbook 1988 tonight at 7. I haven’t seen that one (new?) and my tv guide lists a different one but I set the DVR anyway.

It seems like just two years ago some fat guy in his basement suggested that SNY dust off the old rain delay films rather than some dopey quiz game on the street. It warmed my heart to see Mets Yearbook during the rain delay. Does anyone not agree that that’s a great call by the fat guy?

Stars and stripes caps tonight. They are white. You’d have to be a fool to pair those with black jerseys right?

Some of you are starting to Man Up and send in your cheesy jerseys. Well done. Everyone else it’s time to be honest and Show Your Ryan Thompson jersey. I know you have one.

I will be joining the club in a few years. I found a stars and stripes jersey on eBay for less than the price of the awful cap. Plus if I don’t shake my crush on Frenchy I will be president of the club.

Tours of Citi Field start today. I really want to take one but being honest Citi Field is a litttle far from Mets Police HQ and HQ has a pool. Fortunately, Media Goon has taken on the assignment and he is much better at taking pictures.

Look forward to a few shots from the tour over the weekend, and we’ll do a larger post on Tuesday. I don’t want to waste the article when everyone is at the beach.

I’m sure some other blog will hustle and get something up and I’ll feel like a loser but hey, sometimes it’s nice to put the feet up.

Mets Police will be active all weekend. I enjoy taking the laptop to the sunny deck so there will be fresh content and I don’t just mean the pre-written kind although there’s some of that too. Also keep an eye on metspolice.tumblr.com for pictures of my weekend Mets related activity.

I love those Met Yearbooks. The one from 1980last night was great… the crowd was so non-cynical, they were such believers. They really believed in Mets MAgic.

Also, I forgot how incredibly skinny Pat Zachry was. Wow.

  • I really wanted to take the tour this weekend, but I put it off on if I would have time, and now they’re sold out. boo hoo!

I’m starting to soften a bit on all the color, and design variations of our uniforms. Yes, I don’t like the black, but you know we all love the Mets. The fans that buy this stuff do it because they love the Mets too (I hope), so wy not. I like the attention on all the yearbooks too. I just bought the 1962 yearbook on ebay. I now have them all, 1962 to 2009. One cool thing about the ’62 book is when you open it up, it has a picture of Shea with the heading, “Flushing Meadows Stadium new 1963 home of the New York Mets”

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

  • The site at metspolice.com is experiencing technical problems.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…
