Mets Logo Bandz

Randy from the Apple sent this in.  My kids love these:

I’m sure you’ve heard of these by now.  Apparently kids both young and old love Silly Bandz or Logo Bandz as the MLB calls them.  (Probably to avoid being sued by the Silly Bandz people.  They come in Mets colors and pink and red for girls I guess.  The good news…no black.

    $10! I was in the Mets Kid store the last home stand and could not believe in a ballpark where everything was overpriced $2 silly bandz were $10. I actually stood on principal while drinking my $8 beer and said no way, have a $5 lollipop

    I just have to say that I HATE that all of MLB believes that women and/or girls need to have everything in pink. The Mets colors are blue and orange – no pink (or black, for that matter). Wearing blue and orange does not injure women or girls, trust me, we can handle it. I know that the problem is that someone is buying it, just like the black jerseys, but I I find it so patronizing. Real (Mets) women wear orange and blue.

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

     

    Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

    While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

    So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

    (Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

    FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

     

    Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

     

    The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.
