Heading to Port. St Lucie with a Braves fan

Woo-hoo – since all my Mets friends have become old/married/poor/lame I had to get creative and I convinced my friend The Braves Fan (TBF for now on) to go with me.

I’ll be the fat guy in the stands on February 26th…and then TBF and I are heading to Orlando to watch the Mets* play the Braves on Sunday.

* = it is a split squad game so I know that “The Mets” will be dudes in Mets uniforms but it’s better than nothing.

I hope TBF has a real camera.  I may have to borrow some real technology from The Media Goon.

If you are heading to Spring Opening Day let me know, maybe we can share some stories over a beer.

Still no word from Olbermann.  Come on Keith.

  1. Now we’re talking Shannon! You are in for really a great time!

Would love to meet up with you and say hello.

Lets say we meet at the Tiki Bar down the left field line and toss down a cold one!

The Mets will be tied for first!…Its a great time of year!

    Hope springs eternal!

  2. shannon, every year i make the treck from disney to psl, so if you need a few tips, absolutely let me know. it feels incredible to go down to psl and be engulfed in all things mets when the weather is still terrible up here and you’ll really get a treat going to champions field at the wide world of sports. without question, the best spring training complex in the league,

  3. Thats right!…The Mets are playing University of Michigan (Fred’s alama mater) in PSL on Sunday!

    2 Key Points:

    1) The Mets dugout is on the 3rd base side in PSL!

2)Just don’t buy a bleacher seat or berm seat in PSL. You are stuck there and you can’t walk the stadium.

Bring your score card to Orlando, you can’t tell the players without it!

Brian is right. The stadium the Braves play in is really nice. The Rays have actually played some real games there during the season!

Warm Sun…Cold Beer….Baseball…It doesn’t get any better than this!

  4. I’ll be at the Sun. game in Orlando w/ the family, would love to meet up with you. My son and I are probably sneaking away the Thursday before to drive down to St. Lucie (daughter and husband voted for sleeping late over seeing the Mets). We’ve been going every year since he was 5, and it’s awesome. We’ve met a lot of players, chatted w/ the Wilpons, and have gotten some great autographs and pictures. Not sure if we’ll ever be able to beat last year when the kids got Koufax’s autograph.
