Is this cute little boy the King Of Piazza?

You guys are heartless if you don’t put this fellow in the running:

Shannon,

My son was a huge fan of Piazza since he was 2. We started going to spring training when he was 3 years old and, crazy mom that I am, I promised him that someday he would get to meet Piazza. I think he was about 4 in the picture which shows him staring at his hat that Piazza had just signed. We waited until he had finished batting (he was the last one off the back field. As the golf cart was about to exit the field I jumped in front of it and asked him to sign the hat for my son, which he did. (My husband says I’m responsible for the better fences in PSL that now prevent fans from doing that!

The other pic is from the day that they honored Piazza for the most HRs by a catcher. My son and I made the sign & held it in front of our section (I think I splurged for loge or Mezz). The sign was on tv during the ceremony, and was also on ESPN. Very exciting (tho all you saw of my son was his hand!)

Gotta go, leaving TN (& didn’t see R.A.) & heading back to the snow. See ya in PSL next month.

  1. May I just say that we who were Mets fans from May 23, 1998 through October 2, 2005 should all consider ourselves part of Generation Piazza.

    It’s not a demographic. It’s a state of mind.
