The Mets are selling Blue Yogi Berra jerseys

There’s a lot of blue merchandise at Citi Field…it’s great to see the blue jerseys, and I need you guys to start buying some so we can Ditch the Black and get some Blue Alts some time in the future.

Since the Fight For Blue is more important to me than nitpicking why this is a weird jersey to make…

Who doesn’t love Yogi?  Plus it might be worth getting to annoy a Yankees fan.

  1. I approve of the increased amount of blue merchandise, but I can’t support the Berra jersey. It’s just not reminiscent of any style the Mets wore during his time with the team, unless I’m missing something.

  2. You do not speak for everyone on the black jersey or black drop shadow issue.

I like the black drop shadow. I am not sure what the disdain is for it. I respect your opinion and right to criticize it, but just don’t understand why.

I can understand the dislike for the alternate black jersey …. although it does not bother me personally, I actually have one and like it …. I’d like to see the Mets wear the pinstripe home jerseys (with the drop shadow) and road-gray jersyes most of the time …. black alternates are ok on occasion, but should not be the norm — IMHO.

    1. Hi Rick – thanks for writing. I too respect your opinion and enjoy the discussions.

Specific to the dropshadow – I think it clutters the look. I find pictures of the traditional look more appealing.

as for the occassional black, from time to time you’ll see me mention The Treaty of Flushing. I think a once a week black night (Friday) would be an OK compromise. Not my first choice but a compromise.

    2. The issue with the dropshadow is that it’s only there so they can slap the two-tone caps together with any of the jerseys and say, “See? There’s black on both so it matches.” Well, it still doesn’t match and it’s butt-ugly, so just wear the blue caps with the pinstripes and home whites and drop it.

I’ve got no problem with the black alternates. I don’t even mind the hybrid as a road cap. It just went overboard when the black starting invading every other aspect of the unis.

  3. black is simply not the history of the mets.
i have a black starter mets jacket(it was a gift) when ever i wear it san francisco fans say go giants until they see the mets logo on the side.!
what i really hate is the purple trim on the NY logo.
