Unofficial: first series Mets ticket sales were up vs 2010!

@formerdirtdart sent this in. As the king of fairness I am happy to share this with you.

These numbers are unofficial but to my eye seem right. As always I leave it to you to decide if the site is accurate. Here’s Walt (@formerdirtdart):

Gleamed from the reported attendance (sold tickets), the Mets ticket sales for 2011 opening series were better this year, than last, and out did first weekend series too.

The Mets 2011 season home opening (1st weekend too) series, three games vs the Nationals (Fri, Sat, Sun), sold 107,928 tickets (avg 35,976 per gm).

Last seasons home opening series, three games vs the Marlins (Mon, Wed, Thur), sold 106,090 tickets (avg 35,363 per gm).

The first home weekend series, three games vs the Nationals (Fri, Sat, Sun), sold 94,771 tickets (avg 31,590 per gm).

Gangbusters!

  1. So I guess since opening day sold substantially less tickets than last year that people were just dying to get into game 2 this year.

I can see they learned their attendance accounting from the Madoff crew so it’s no wonder they were in bed together.

That being said, they do need to inflate official sold numbers to appease advertisers.

  2. WHp cares about attendance in April? Nobody goes to baseball games this time of year unless you’re absolutely desperate to go to a ball game. You say its supposed to be about fun, what the hell is fun about paying to sit outside at night in April. I’ll start going once the temperature gets above 70.

  4. ^Drunk, by the time that happens the mets will be 20 games back! You will be the only one there!

Bad comparison comparing 3 mid-week night ames vs a weekend series!

That’s probably why I included the first weekend series too.
