Deadspin joins in on the Coffee the dog discussion

The well-read Deadspin is now involved.  This is now a “thing.”

The Stop Abusing Coffee Facebook folks have over 1,700 fans, and even more signatures on their online petition. Theyve reached out to the Mets, to old-timey New York reporter-cum-gumshoe-types, to the NYPD and the ASPCA, and, well, they got us and Cant Stop the Bleeding. Close enough.

Again, I hope that this doesn’t somehow backfire.

  1. It’s not right and when I tried to talk to mets employees and supervisors at the game yesterday I just got yessed to death. It makes me feel like the mets are condoning thus and that’s really bad.

  2. Shannon, I understand that you’re trying to remain objective about this and maybe everyone doesn’t feel as strongly as others about this but come on you can’t tell me that when you come off the 7 that seeing this dog at every game doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable.

    1. Bill – until the group made me more aware I never noticed that the gog was there every game. I often enter through LF.

What I fear is the ASPCA sweeps in, nobody adopts the dog, and the dog lives 10 years in a cage or is put down. I also don’t know anything about the owner. Maybe he really loves his dog.

I think we all want the same thing..none of us want a dog abused.
