Am I a bad person because I’m bored with the Mets?

Maybe it was a string of boring games, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s because I went on the road and broke the habit – but I’m in one of the phases where I am bored with Mets season.

I’m looking at the late afternoon game and the day game…looking at the sun…thinking about things I could do instead of sitting in front of a TV….and the Mets are losing.

Maybe the Turner/Murph/Gee charm is wearing off.  Maybe it’s interleague play.  Maybe I’m just a jerk.

How are you guys feeling?  Will you be watching?

  1. you are not alone my fellow Mets blogger. There are days I stare at the screen of my laptop and feel very uninspired. I guess to has to do with the unknown of the ownership situation, whether Jose Reyes will be a Met4Life, who will be dealt off and when, the fact that this team wins 3 in a row then loses 3 in a row will test the Mettle (remember him) of the Mets fan/blogger. Add in the news that Davey Johnson will manage the Nats for the next two years at least plus no DW or Ike one can see why as Ron Darling would say, “we have our dauber down”

  2. my interest in everything ebbs and flows. I once went a whole week without a beer for instance.

I’m excited about the Texas/Detroit swing. Get to see AL Cy Young Verlander against NL MVP Jose Reyes.

I do go through phases where I just mail it in so to speak, but I had those same down periods in 2006, and really every year. It’s a long season. But I like these guys, think they’ve still got some excitement coming their way this year. July will be a fun month, starts off with the Yankees. Get DAvid Wright back, Reyes represents the NL at the All-Star Game, a Phillies series where (I hope) we reassert that we can play with anyone.

  3. Hard not to look out the window on sunny days and want to make the best of it. We’re also facing a fierce team that will be tough for us to win more than 1.

  4. I’ll miss today’s game because I had other plans, but I’ll be watching tomorrow & I’m looking forward to Detroit next week. This could be the last hurrah for the 2011 Mets, unless they really surprise me. Save the boredom talk for after the All-Star break.

  5. Playing bad: Bored. What else is on t.v. (nhl draft, Wimbledon)
Playing good: Can’t get home quick enough! Damn this traffic! Can’t stand listening to Hagin anymore! I need GKR!

  6. I feel your pain. This is just a weird, weird season. Neither in contention (don’t kid yourself–I did The Math again last night), nor rebuilding. Not that good, but not that bad, either. If Ike were still in there, he’d certain add a wrinkle, but mostly these Mets are just…there.

Wanna read a very sad example? I’m typing this in the 4th inning and have had the game on from the start. Somewhere around the 2nd, my wife asked me who was pitching today, and I’d already forgotten. I used to be able to tell you who was due to start in two days. Now the guy who’s on the mound today barely registers.

  7. It kinda stinks, but I check the score (and the Indians) constantly and still hope even though I am frustrated; if the trade Jose, it’ll be tough.
I did get some sweet pajama pants (Mets) for Father’s Day!

  8. I became bored half way thru the 2009 season. After being a Saturday Plan Holder for 25 years, and seeing the total collapse in 07 & 08, the final straw came with the total disregard when it came to seating locations at $iti Field. After years with great seats in the Loge, Sect 10, first we were told there would be no plans. Then the “Plus Plans” with 5 games to other than the day you want. Add to that the ridiculous prices for seats between the bases, We Said “ENOUGH”. So since then we have not been to 1 game.

I don’t know about you, but I have never heard anybody say I love sitting in the outfield. This makes sections such as: Left & Right Field Reserve, Pespi Porch and Left Field Landing USELESS. And to pay an average for $33 for Big Apple Reserve and be 408 feet from home plate you need your head examined!

With the rest of the seating $100 and up its easy to see why the place is empty. So I guess you can say I’m bored with Ownership charging for STEAK, when all the are serving is GROUND BEFF! And by the looks of it, except for about 15.000 a game, You Are Too….
