If you had told me in 1988 or so that this would happen, I would not have believed it…Doc, Straw, Cone, Mazzilli, Joe Torre…all Yankee old timers…Shea is a parking lot and the Mets wear black….oh and no championships after 1986. Maybe when that ball went through Buckner, the curse transferred to the Mets.

Cecil Fielder was a yankee for like a minute..i mean really so many of these players were not known for being a yankee. a sham of an old-timers day if you ask me..and as far as gooden’s girth all i can do is quote the late great phil rizzuto and say “WHOLLY COW”
To be fair, Gooden did just get out of rehab and I believe its fairly common for people to gain weight during the rehab process. Drugs wreak havoc on your metabolism so there’s an adjustment period after going off of them. Also food can become a source of comfort in situations they previously used to use drugs for.

Hopefully Doc being fat means he’s off the drugs! He’s in the new
season of Dr. Drew’s Celeb Rehab, which premieres tonight. Don’t know many fat junkies (except Artie Lange), so hopefully he’s clean and sober…for now, at least.
Googling Doc, you see a lot of pics…about a third are mugshots. But this one is quite telling…his arm position is so poor, arm trouble was guaranteed.

I watched the Yankees Old Timers Day… Homer Bush, Aaron Small, Clay Billinger…these guys are old timers? So I equate the Mets calling out Steve Beizer, Richard Hidalgo and Aaron Heilman. Who really cares. I’ll still love the Mets even if they don’t honor all their players who played a whole two years for them. Yea. It would be nice to see Mike and Tom and all those other guys, but we see them all throughout the season anyway
