Is there a way to do a Mets Home Run Derby?

I’m trying to figure out if a Mets home run derby could be fun.

There’s some logistical challenges – do you do it before a game? What about batting practice?

After a game? Would people stay?

Is it game/banner parade/derby?

Ballpark jokes aside, it might be fun to watch a few players battle for an hour. Tons of fun to let kids shag balls in the OF (that might get some folks to stay).

I think there’s something here but need some help with the idea.

I have to go do some meetings. Back to 80’s week and the Media Goon.

  1. Talk to me when the Mets have some actual home run hitters. I’ll still tell you that I’m against it, but at least I won’t be laughing at the idea then.
