The season sure is winding down to nothing. There’s little about the Mets in the papers, surely nothing juicy, so I thought I’d do an odds and ends post.
There was a fair amount of David Wright bashing on twitter on Saturday. I don’t get it. Should he not hit two home runs? Does he somehow stink?
I am trying to be positive and not tear someone down who is probably a nice guy – but I see I am not the only one who is sad when Howie Rose is off and others do the game. Howie will be back for the STL series. The Other Voice didn’t really bother me until this year but now it does. Thoughts?
My dopey dog apparently put two new holes in my Mitchell & Ness jacket during the summer. The third hole in the sleeve was done on like day 3 of me owning this one. Grrr.
Speaking of the jacket, I got hit with a, “They let you wear that?” yesterday. It’s getting really crazy that people are treating me like a lunatic for wearing Mets gear around these parts. I’d probably get more respect if I wore it in Moscow.
Junior is in big trouble and daddy has taken TV away. Today he approached me with a trade. He would like to trade this Mets ball for TV back. I said I’d ask you guys.

I have started to rotate my Mets gear to the back of my closet and break out the football stuff!
I hate this time of year when the Mets are way out of it and the games don’t really matter.
Its even harder down here where football is king. Yesterday we have 3 great college games in the state going on. If you go into a bar and ask them to turn on a baseball game once football started, they look at you as if you have been living under a rock.

I will always be a Met fan…but I’m also not one of those who will ignore all the faults. Given the market the Mets are in, it should not be 25 years without a title…even worse, in the last 20 years, we have only had about 5 respectable years that weren’t abominable or end in collapse.
There will be some fans from Philly come up next weekend…but I imagine there will be less than 1,000 people in the ballpark the last Wednesday afternoon vs. the Reds. It’s a repeat of the late 70s.

I remember the times we all used to go down to the Vet, drink their watery beer, scarf down those belly bomber wiz wits and mock the Phillies. No more. Now they come up to Debits, drink the panther piss known as Bud Light, and gobble up the Shack burgers. And mock the Mets.
