More Mets uniform rumors

Adam Rubin, who I tend to find extremely accurate, says…

Sounds like ’62-styled pinstripes will be primary home uniform. No black drop shadow on “Mets” on chest. Then the patch with “50th anniv.”

and

Black uniform tops, it sounds like, will only be worn occasionally. Not really a regular feature in 2012.

So sounds like Adam is saying that the black uniforms don’t die, but will be seen less.  I do tend to find Adam to be very accurate.

Stay with me folks.

Now, I wonder if gold will be incorporated into that patch…

  1. Gold costs money and, as we all know, money is not something the Mets are in possession of in large sums right now. Even gold colored lettering probably costs too much for the Wilpons to afford right now. Maybe they could ask Bobby Bonilla to loan them some cash to do it though. While they’re at it, maybe Bobby Bo would consider becoming one of the minority investors they’re looking for. After all, they’re offering to pay interest to those minority investors. Imagine Bobby Bo owning a stake in the Mets! LOL 🙂

  2. This sounds like the perfect compromise all around. Well done, and about time (tonedeaf Wilpons).

  3. Questions that need to be asked/answered on Wednesday:

    1. Is this a permanent change or a one-year thing?
    2. Will the home pinstripes be white or off-white?
    3. Will the road grays also have no black shadow?
    4. Will the road grays be worn with blue caps?
    5. Will the two-tone (black/blue) cap be retained?
    6. Will the revised home and road uniforms have numerals on the front (they didn’t in ’62)?
    7. Will the revised home and road uniforms have NOB?
    8. Will the numeral and NOB fonts remain the same?
    9. Will the left-sleeve patch be the standard Mets medallion or a special Anniversary patch?
    10. Will the cap squatchee be orange or blue?

  4. 11) Will any of the Met fans be able to identify any of the bodies that will be wearing these uniforms in 2012?
