I feel like I’ve seen this type of mascot somewhere. Giant baseball head. Goes by Mister. I’m trying to remember where I’ve seen this.
Oh, by the way, the Reds – I am not making this up – have another completely original mascot. His name is Gapper.

The drawing of Mr. Red appeared in the 50s (the 1896 stache guy). Became a human in a suit in 80s. Stopped. Then another mr met ripoff in 1995. So says Wikipedia.

I’m sure the old “Reds Police” mimeographed newsletters criticized those upstart Mets for appropriating their logo for a mascot. 🙂
It’s funny you say that. I love slipping in references to my grandfather passing out copies of Giants Police outside the Polo Grounds.
