50th Anniversary Signing – What I Got

I didn’t just go to this event to take pictures.  I am a fan after all and while Shannon has the MetsPolice HQ, and Goon has Precinct 41, I am slowly putting together my own MetsPolice area.  Given that I live just outside Philly I’m thinking my space will be the MetsPolice Embassy – sovereign land within foreign borders (namely Phillies country).

First thing I have comes from the archives; the 1986 New York Newsday wrap around cover of Orosco leaping into the air after the Mets won Game 7.  I was able to get it signed Sunday by Hernandez, Darling, Mookie, Backman, and Doc.  Mookie signed it with “I would have been safe”

Another one from the archives, this 1985 Daily News with Doc winning his 20th game on the cover.  Best part of this was that Doc started reading the front and back page and asked how I still had it (thanks Mom).  He signed it with ‘1985 NL Cy Young”

With so many 69 Mets around I had to get a few more signatures on a ball I had started 5 years ago:

Finally, the biggest reason I was there was to get some things signed by Mr. Seaver.  Of course I had to get a jersey signed and I opted for a 1969 road from Mitchell & Ness

But the biggest thrill for me was having Seaver sign a picture that I took of him throwing out the last pitch at Shea Stadium, and inscribing it with that and the date:
