1970′s era Channel 9 Mets open

On youtube it says: This is the actual broadcast introduction that appeared at the beginning of every Mets game that was broadcast on WOR-T.V. Channel 9 in New York from the late 1960’s through the mid 1970’s. It incorporated Mets highlights being played to the “Meet The Mets” theme song This nostalgic broadcast intro has not been seen for 36 years

  1. The spinning logo…Buddy Harrelson’s catch…Cleon sliding at the ending…that’s the real deal. Other players were dubbed in at various times…that is probably from 1973, having Mays in there.

Thanks for bringing back great memories!

    1. Absolutely! Those 3 are the real deal … When I watched that I remembered those 3 images the only 3 that put me back to the b/w tv watched hundreds of games on. Also LN’s voice of course .. Great stuff!

  2. As a kid, the shot of the lights from the outfield light tower baffled me because I didn’t realize they were lights, I thought they were words on the scoreboard that they quickly dissolved before I had a chance to make out what it said.

And this specific film that was shown can’t date any earlier than 1973, when the “Getty” brand came into existence.  (If memory serves me right, “Getty” replaced “Flying A” gas stations.)
