This is a case where Tom will tell you his no-hitter was not his best pitched game, nor most famous game…that would be his near-perferct one-hitter on July 9, 1969 against the Cubs which was the defining moment that turned the Mets from loveable losers to contenders. His control was ungodly that night. I was told by my Mom that I was there…too young to remember the game details, but I absolutely remember sitting on the concrete steps of the upperdeck and cheering when I heard everyone else doing so.
