Bill Maher Minority Owner in the Mets

Hey Bill. Welcome to the Mets. I don’t think you got the memo. Hybrid Caps are dead. I saw you on SNY sporting your Hybrid. We are willing to cut you some slack since you are new here. Go to the team store and grab one of those nice BLUE 50th Anniversary Logo caps. It will look good on you trust me..

From CBSNEWS.COM

The stand-up comic and political satirist was at Citi Field on Sunday and revealed that he bought a minority share of the team months ago. Mets senior vice president of marketing and communications David Newman confirmed the deal is done and that Maher is a new limited partner.

Maher said he read about the opportunity in the newspaper in December and thought it would be a great investment.

Maher says, “Especially after I’ve seen some of the ways money can disappear in recent years. I had my money in Lehman Brothers in 2008, so this looked pretty good,” Maher said, drawing laughs. “I’m really happy that it’s turned out that this team is good this year, because nobody picked them to be good.”

“Look, I have enough stress in my real job. I don’t need to worry about that. I’m just a fan,” Maher said with a chuckle. “I think my role is to bring luck to the team, like I did this weekend. I mean, let’s be honest: They did not have a no-hitter for 50 years, I buy in and I come to town and there’s a no-hitter. Draw your own conclusions.”

Good you are a fan..Blue Cap Bill..Blue Cap…

  1. We’re the Wilson’s that desperate for partners that they want to do business with a guy who compares retarded children to dogs. Nice PR move coming off a week with a return of Banner Day and a no hitter

    1. I also find Maher to be a…well, any number of words I can’t type here, but in the end he’s an entertainer, so it’s not much different than, say, Brad Pitt or Eddie Van Halen buying a share in the team.  If nothing else, at least now I can say he and I have something in common.

  2. Just goes to show you that time after time after time the Mets are tone-deaf with it comes to public relations. Just dead in the water. The glow from the Santana no-hitter, that warm, fuzzy Metsie feeling quickly went away … to be filled with Madoff Mets heartache. Stupid Wilpons, that’s for sure.
