Mets David Wright Might Start Season on DL

Man, to have to pay $63 bucks for Opening Day to possibly see no outfield, no Santana, no Frank Francisco, and possibly no Wright is really going to suck. At this point the Mets should make a new ticket pack for Opening Day. The Buy Opening Day at $63 bucks a ticket and get three free games ticket pack.

This is from Adam Rubin’s Twitter feed.

Sandy Alderson says David Wright has moderate intercostal strain on side. Just on general timelines for rib cages, Terry Collins figured David Wright may begin season on DL.Justin Turner about to get a lot of reps at third base, according to Terry Collins.

Been stated elsewhere, but entirely possible Mets’ 3 highest-paid remaining players open on DL: Johan, Wright, Francisco. 2 are near-locks.If all 3 opened the season on the DL, John Buck would be the Mets’ highest-paid active player at $6 million.Zach Lutz, who would have to be a third-base candidate, even though he’s playing 1B today, is 2-for-3.

David Wright officially has withdrawn from the World Baseball Classic, Mets confirm.

  1. That’s just great. My dumb ass paid over $100 for ONE Opening Day ticket through StubHub, hoping to see my favorite Met take the mound. Now that that’s improbable, I can look forward to also not seeing my third baseman. Wonderful news. Ugh. That’s why I didn’t want any of my Mets playing in the WBC — I couldn’t care less about the WBC. I want my players healthy and ready to compete with the Nats and Braves. Any other rotten news you want to share?

  2. By the way, you didn’t need the “to” in the headline. “Mets David Wright May Start Season on DL” would’ve been a better headline (might and Wright is too awkward together as they rhyme). But then again, any way you word it sucks.

  3. No Frank Francisco? That’s a selling point. The other guys, well, if Ike Davis is the biggest star on the field for the Mets, I’m not going to feel too much Opening Day magic.

  4. Is intercostal the new word of the day? I never heard the term until Daniel Murphy.

  5. Oh, that would mean he got hurt while he was out boating. Was he taking bp on a yacht?

  6. Don’t blame the WBC. If his muscle was in a weakened state the injury would have happened during a Spring Training game if he wasn’t playing for Team USA
