Terry Watch Watch upgraded to Terry Watch

By now you’ve seen that Colactus said..

“I don’t answer to fans. They don’t play this game. They have no idea what goes on in there. They have absolutely no idea what it means to be a professional teammate. … I don’t care what the perception is. All I know is what goes on here. I’ve been doing this for 42 years. I don’t care what anybody on the outside thinks. I know how to get it done in the clubhouse. I’ve been doing it a lot longer than a lot of people.”

And that’s fun and all, but I am noticing the newspaper crowd starting to find a thread.  Those on twitter were suggesting that things were getting messy.  Here’s The Bitter Bill in the Daily News..

There is also now the appearance of Collins starting to crack under the JV1 pressure. I don’t mind him sticking up for all of his players against 1 trouble maker, but to bring the fans into this is not smart.

The good news for TC is by the time the Mets get back to Citi Field, there will be nobody at the games to let him hear about it.

I personally think Terry was given a 99 loss roster, we all lose our cool, and that he will get 162 games. However, the Terry Watch is not about what I think, it merely states that the newspaper crowd is circling.

  1. Did anyone really believe Terry was a long-term manager?

Not counting Roy McMillan, Salty Parker, or Mike Cubbage (71 games between the 3 of them), the Mets have had a total of 17 managers. The median number of games they have lasted is 417 (exactly the number that Jerry Manuel managed). (The avg games managed is 476)

Terry Collins has now managed 360 games for the Mets. If he were to last til 417 (assuming no more postponements), his last game as manager would be Sunday, July 14th in Pittsburgh – the last day before the All Star break.

Given that the host team’s manager is always a coach for the All-Star Game, no way would the Mets fire TC just prior to the game. Which means either they do it well before (at least a month I would guess), or wait til the end of the season, at which point he would have managed 486 games.

Of course this is pure speculation
