Newsday: Mets’ income from Citi Field dips

I think any other 362 days a year I’d label this “today’s must read” but with the Derby and ASG it’s just another in a series of what I like to call Too Much Content.  Read on…

The most significant financial difference between the Mets’ forecast and actual revenue took place within Citi Field’s most expensive seats.

But the “retained seats revenue” never met 2009 projections and continues to drop. The Mets reported $99.3 million in ticket revenue in 2009; last year it received only $43.9 million, 67 percent shy of their 2012 projection.

  1. Let’s review: The Mets had unrealistic expectations, and they are failing to meet them. How is this still news, exactly?

  2. This is a direct result of the front office’s arrogance. They do nothing to extend courtesies to ticket holders, and they built a ballpark where seats are at a higher cost and you have limited views of the field.
