U.S. Open time in Flushing

MrMet_Tennis

While first place in 2013 remains a long shot for the Mets, on the back of improved play as of late, second place is within striking distance, as is the first season above .500 for the first time since 2008. It’s August and that’s a lot more to root for than the last couple years. If that’s not enough to get you out to the ballpark for a couple more games, perhaps some Tennis will get you there.

As you probably know, the US Open starts a week from Monday, and this year there are four days when the Mets’ schedule overlaps with play next door. US Open tickets are more expensive this year than in the last four years, but the good news is that week one, when the Mets are in town, is about half the price as week two. To help you plan the week, the guys over at TiqIQ put together a little chart below to show what it’ll cost you each day to play hooky and take in some Tennis and Mets. Based on the below, Wednesday is the cheapest day with a combined get-in price of $41 for a day session at the Open and a Mets nightcap. While it’s not a push for first place or a playoff spot, it is pretty nice way to spend the day.
