Nesquick Wiffle Ball Tourney

I am going to say this right now. It was a fun time. I had Randy from Readtheapple and Darren from The7Line on my original team along with my girlfriend. We were supposed to be teams of four playing on a wiffle ball field with official wiffle ball dimensions. The people in charge of the event were so overwhelmed with teams willing to be a part of the day that they had to combine teams to make super teams. Team MetsPolice was put together with Team MetsMerized Online. It was actually the first time I had a chance to meet anyone from MMO except for their new acquisition Ed Marcus aka Rusty Jr, aka @lagranderusty ( I am so glad the four who showed up didn’t include Ed or we would have lost both games for sure).

The event is hosted by Nestlé Nesquik and benefits the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. For over 120 years, this organization has enhanced the lives of children from disadvantaged communities in New York City through programs that emphasize the importance of academic achievement, good character and following a healthy lifestyle. Nesquick donated a check for ten thousand dollars to the Boys and Girls club so that made the day even more fun in my eyes.

The FDNY team destroyed us. I mean outright slapped us around 11-1. They were all good sports even after  I hit the first batter to send a message.

In the second game we had the opportunity to play against some of the other bloggers that were put in a team with team nesquick. We had a much better game in this one. We actually won. There was a surreal moment when I had Buddy Harrelson cheering me (well for Media Guy)on from the sidelines telling me to strike out Michael Baron (METSBLOG)and Jason Fry(FAFIF). I am not going to say if I did or didn’t have a K Korner going against my fellow bloggers. Okay fine, I did, but I am not going to tell you against who. I also got to pitch to the Quick Bunny. My life is so ridiculous at times. Thanks to @the7line for capturing this on his instagram. Click here for link.

Another fun this was to see Edgardo Alfonzo’s son step in to play with the other bloggers in their second game of the day. When he got up to bat Fonzie was teasing him by booing him. Then the kid ripped what looked like was going to be a home run, when one of the Team FDNY reached up about seven feet high (on one foot I might add) and pulled the ball back in over the fence. Seeing Fonzie’s face go from being proud of his son to the utter disbelief of what happened to cracking up over the absurdity of the whole scenario was priceless.

I want to thank Nesquick for inviting us to come play at this event and just making it a fun time for the kids and us ( and donating that check).
