The Mets Holiday party: @wheelerpro45 and #imwith28 are cool guys

The Mets were kind enough to let me come to the annual Holiday Party, something for which both the 40-something and 10 year old versions of me think is amazin’

I’ll let the other bloggers do all the heavy lifting about the conversations we had with Sandy, Wheeler and Murph but I wanted to take a second to share my enthusiasm.

I didn’t mention Sandy Alderson in the headline because headlines can only be so long but he too is cool. Always cordial and always up for some idiot asking him about Homeland.

Next we spoke to Zack Wheeler. I had never met him but that dude is cool. Very friendly and down to earth. He’s next in line now to be my favorite Met. I really liked him and will be rooting even harder for him now.

But, as you know, my favorite Met is Daniel Murphy. While I phrased it differently my question was basically. “are you ever like man what do I have to do?” aka “do you ever get sick of people giving you s–t?” He gave a good solid answer about his approach to the game and how he has thought about something that could have been better before anyone else even brings it up. I’ll pull a quote later – or probably just be lazy and link to @kranepool or Michael Baron or someone.

Anyway Murph too is a cool dude that you’d like if you met him.

Thanks @Mets! It was great to see everyone.

Everyone else – don’t forget the coat drive at Citi Field tomorrow!

  1. I believe Murph was down at the 2013 Fantasy Camp and I hope he’s at the 2014, I’d love to meet him. Quite honestly, I like the way he goes about his business, little fanfare and personally I believe he might be one of the most underrated players in the game.

I also like Mr. Alderson. I think he gets a lot of unfair statements hurled at him (this game is a business, but it goes with the territory of his job).
