Queens Baseball Convention 2015: What would you like to see?

QBC bigger

Hi gang, it’s about 7 months until we will gather again for QBC ’15. I thought I would give you a mini-update and pick your brains about some things.

I can tell you I had an exciting meeting that could lead to some bigger things.

I can tell you I spoke to some folks about getting more players to attend.

Maybe the date slides a week earlier or later, maybe not (this year was January 18th).  I can argue it both ways, but one of the considerations will be the availability of guests and had we moved it last year there were some additional opportunities.

We are considering some sort of Early Bird ticket.  You would benefit by getting a cheaper admission price.  We would benefit by having some additional funds to grab more players.

We are considering variants on how we handle the autographs.  I think we may do “admission gets you two guys free, but if you want those other guys over there, that will be an additional fee.”  That allows those additional guys to make the additional funds that gets them to come to the QBC…and then we can have them on panels etc.

What would you like to see at QBC 2015?  The Mets crowdsourcing has been excellent..let’s try that here too.

  1. Mediagoon QBConvention Mets Cosplay and at least one actor who has played a Met on Broadway.

  2. TheRealHoov QBConvention we had jersey parade so that kind of counts as the Cosplay

  3. I see no problem with having some players charge for autographs.

I would like to see players who weren’t part of the 1986 team – every time the Mets turn to alumni to promote something, it seems like it’s John Franco, Ed Kranepool or someone with a 1986 connection.

Let’s see someone like Anthony Young or Craig Swan who could do a panel & maybe give us some perspective on the current Mets era vs. other dark ages.
