Fake Pennant Race: Sandy’s gonna add payroll, right?

“If we’re in a position and we’re competing, we’re vying for a wild card spot or division championship on July 31, I think we have the capacity to make a move,” Alderson said. “There’s no question about that.

That’s Sandy back in June 2014.

The Mets have narrowed the Fake Pennant Race to 8 games back, with tonight being another Must Win in the Must Sweep.  It’s the difference between 7 back and 9 back.

Win two and you’re “only” 6 out and we can all lie to ourselves for another month.

Split and Atlanta leaves 8 games up and then you’re really lying to yourself.

Get swept (that can happen you know) and Atlanta leaves up 10.

But, this is Queens, and there is always an excuse.  Let us not forget this one…

“I do believe it will go up if we’re able to generate the kind of revenue that will support that, and that’s why we have to win.”

That doesn’t look like much revenue.  I guess you can’t have a bat.  Your fault, Mets fans.

Always an excuse.

Mets Baseball: “If we happen to sort of be in it, yeah that would be cool.”

….

Shannon Shark in no way thinks the Mets are in a pennant race but is sick of the endless rebuild that now seems like it is being pushed to 2018 as there continues to be talk of trading for prospects instead of established players.  At some point 27 pitching prospects is enough.  Get some star power in here so I’m not bored out of my mind when Keith Hernandez isn’t working the game.

  1. metspolice Sandy is praying to God the #mets lose tonight. #cheap. If they win they are 7GB. Lost 7GM lead w/ 17 to go once. Why not gain.
