Mets Answer Questions About Foo Fighters Pre Sale

Hey Guys. I am a huge Foo Fighters fan and also a Twenty Game Placeholder(I even upgraded my seats for next season), so the line up for the pre sale at Citifield today really irked me. One of the benefits of being a plan holder is that we are supposed to get pre sales to non baseball events first. I got in touch with my ticket rep(who is a straight shooter), and he let me know that the pre sale was being run by the FOO FIGHTERS and not the Mets and they were just a limited number. He assured me there will still be good tickets for the plan holders.

Today I jumped in with the conversation on twitter about it after @citifieldevents tweeted out a picture of the line waiting for the box office to open. Well, after a few tweets I got a call from the Mets. Jason Velez a ticket account exec who asked me if we could chat and clear up a few things. Jason said the Foo Fighters rented out Citi Field and part of the contract was that they would be able to carve out a LIMITED NUMBER of tickets to do their own pre sale that had nothing to do with the Mets, There is the BEAT THE BOTS promotion that the FOO FIGHTERS are doing because last year at Wrigley fans got locked out of buying tickets and it seemed like they were mostly bought buy ticket brokers, hence the line up outdoors instead of buying online.

I told him I get that, but why wasn’t that conveyed to the plan holders. I said before the vague press release was sent out and before cit field events started tweeting about it, there should have been contact to the plan holders that this pre sale does not effect the pre sale for plan holders and that there would only be a LIMITED NUMBER of tickets set aside for the Foo Fighter’s special walk up pre sale. Jason agreed and he even said that is why they are calling to touch base with plan holders to let them know what is going on. I told him it was such a Mets type thing to do. Hey guys we got the Foo Fighters but we haven’t thought this out too well on how to reach out to our fans. We countered back and forth with some points and the agreement was the Mets have realized they have not handled this well. I told Jason that this is one of the reasons they have lost plan holders is because the Mets seem not to care about us(see past metspolice posts from Shannon). Jason has assured me that there will still be great seats for the pre sale on Dec 1st for plan holders. Now Jason didn’t give me that he was giving me the corporate lines and seemed really concerned about how they can do things like this better. Let’s see how this turns out Dec 1.

Also Jason said I could put out his twitter handle if anyone has questions about this. Don’t be too hard on him. Here it is @JasonV_NYMETS
