About this blog and the @metspolice twitter

mets police 28

Good morning.  It is very quiet in Metstropolis this morning, and that is a welcome relief from HarveyMania.

I thought I would take a second to just write about what this blog is about, and what the twitter is about.  I’ll start with the twitter.

On twitter (@metspolice) I tend to riff jokes.  If I am serious about something I will take the time to blog about it.  On twitter if I see something that I find amusing/interesting I will just retweet it.

You’ll see me use the hashtag #sny1130.  “SNY 11:30” is a hypothetical show (that they should make) which would be a Daily Show ripoff.  A host would show highlights, riff some good Mets jokes (like we do on twitter), and then interview a guest.   I have all sorts of ideas how this could be produced easily (tape the celebrity part at 6:30) but we all know it’s more cost effective to replay whatever the highlight show is so SNY 1130 will never happen.

Back to the blog and twitter.

Yesterday I was asked why I was commenting on the uniforms in the spring game.  I was stumped.  Um, because that’s kind of what I do.  If you want to talk about someone’s UZR ranking there is a blog with 57 writers for that.  Here we talk about uniforms.

The Matt Harvey Stuff?  Harvey Mania, especially from the Main Stream Media, was SOOOOOOOOO ridiculous I can’t help but “Daily Show” it.  I’m not going to make fun of a guy striking out 12.  But that ridiculous E:60 about a guy with 12 wins and a camera crew filming a camera crew filming him working out?  I’m mocking the f*** out of that.  Quinoa, suits, supermodels, brand-building – that’s all fodder.

As for the non-fluff: The problem is people ignore it until it is too late.  We wrote about The Mall for like two years and everyone ignored it.  Now suddenly someone wants to put up billboards.  Too late.

I keep brining up the metal detectors and security theater.  Nobody cares. They will care when they miss the first two innings on Opening Day.  Until then I might as well just post about how awesome MH looks because it’s the only thing anyone cares about.

For me, I just write about whatever is on my mind.  I’m glad people like it, but I don’t write to be popular nor unpopular.  It’s just a brain dumb.  @mediagoon is also free to write what he wants, and sometimes he doesn’t agree (for some reason he supports institutional racism on baseball caps).  There’s some other guys who supposedly write too but who knows what happened to them.

So that’s today’s brain dump.  Right this second there is exactly one future post scheduled (QBC Audio).  Beyond that, it’s up to the soap opera that is the Mets.

Again:  blog = serious, twitter = not so serious.

Thanks for reading and following!

  1. This blog is great. I have been following you for years. It’s refreshing to have a place to chat about other Met stuff besides the game.
Plus your not a Mets homer mouthpiece

  2. metspolice you forgot to mention how the team has previously bought you out in exchange for a steak sandwich
