Local Mets blogger feels pressure for first time in years!

True story.

I had noticed that I no longer felt “pressure” with the blog.  There was a time, a long time, where I felt a need to get up early, check Rubin, check Cerrone, check in with Media Goon (who usually scours the newspapers) and get some stuff up.  We needed to be on top of things.

This season, and most of last, I never felt that way.  Not because we are lazy or because the blog blows (read this rant from yesterday) but because there was never ever anything going on in Queens.  Like never.  I’d do the morning rounds, there would be nothing, so I’d slap something together.  Things that should normally be filler, but filler was all that Sandy put on the table.

Sure there was Matt Harvey News and the occasional overdone Phenom Pitcher Makes A Debut Hype Day, but it’s not like anything was going on in Queens, especially this year once we finished Taking Back New York with an 11 game winning streak.

So this morning felt great.  I was driving to Donuts Chain and was like, “wow it’s already 9, I better start posting, and checking Rubin and….”

THIS is how it’s supposed to be, and THIS is what I was getting at yesterday with my reply to Dave.  I don’t have to fill the blog this weekend with caps and filler because THERE IS ACTUALLY SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT.

The Mets acquired a third baseman.  That’s weird to do when David Wright is always almost back next weekend.

Murph – where will he land?

Duda – what’s up, bro?

Conforto – finally!

Mayberry DFA – one day you bat cleanup and the next….you’re gone?  Really?

I can’t remember the last time the Mets acquired major league level players mid-season, can you?  Seriously, it has been FOREVER.  I’m still waiting for them to bring in a closer to replace Billy Wagner (maybe those THIRTY blown leads made a difference in the standings, but that’s a story for another day.)

I want to watch the Mets tonight and see the new guys.

I want to see the lineup so we can all complain and overanalyze whose name is at second base.

This is fun!  This is what this is supposed to be.

So Matt Harvey, the stage is yours, and you love the stage.  Aces gotta ace, and you’re on normal rest.  No excuses, go win us a game tonight pal.  The t-shirt enthusiasts will be watching.

About the blog.   Long-time readers can skip this part.

We try to be different.  Different might be good or bad or a combination of both, but we try to be different.  There are influences to be sure – take a little Uni Watch, throw on some Mushnick, a dash of snark and throw it in a blender, and you get Mets Police.

We aren’t trying to be Mets Blog or Rubin or Baron or the site with the 57 writers or the other one that likes advanced stats.  Those are all good at what they do.  It’s not what we do, nor what we aspire to.  We feel doing game recaps, especially in 2015, is a waste of time.  I’m not interested in writing about OPS+ or UZR.  I can’t possibly keep up with Rubin on news.  So we do “The Other.”
