Are Mets fans obnoxious?

sports fans

Interesting link, and beyond our immediate gut reaction to get up in arms about it….first the Braves fans found “us” annoying and now a story from Philly.  Is it possible that “we” are annoying?  Are there a few bad Apples in the bunch?  Or is Larry Andersen cranky?

And what about the SF Giants crowd that comes to Shea Citi (wow can’t believe I really did that so I left it in) every year?  Are they obnoxious?  Or just a big group?

Did the Rockies fans like “us” this weekend?

Just curious…

Why can’t everyone be as sweet, positive and supportive as Phillies fans?

  1. HA! I was about to send this article to via Twitter. Looks like the T-Shirt Enthusiasts’ legacy is growing. Has Larry Anderson ever actually taken notice of Philly fans? LOL

  2. Since I have travelled to all the games with the 7line except for the SF and Yankees Stadium games, I think I can give some insight. I’ll break it down from each city with their fans.

Pittsburgh- after Mets loss and Mets fans cheering whole time- ” Wow, we wish we had something with our fans like this. Let me buy you a beer.”

Cubs fans- After Mets loss and Mets fans cheering whole time- ” You guys all traveled to see the Mets and sit as a group? Awesome”

Philly fans- Mets won and Mets fans and Philly fans going back and forth all game- ” You guys suck.” Good natured ribbing to people trying to fight

Miami fans- Mets fans loud and with the win- “What is this 7line group, oh cool…Coming to the Clevelander?”

Colorado Fans- Mets Fans loud all game and during the game ” Wow awesome, this group is cool, tell me more about it”

Baltimore Fans- Orioles fan gets up flips off the section because we were cheering too loud

Atlanta- Mets fans told to put away the thundersticks because they were noisemakers and noisemakers were illegal(legit and fair) but the Security staff and fans went out of their way to antagonize the 7liners.

I guess i forgot how classy the Philly fans are with throwing batteries and throwing up on purpose in kids.

  3. I moved down to the Philly area five years ago, and have been attending Mets-Phillies games down here every year since, decked out in a variety of different Mets jerseys of course.  In all the games I’ve been to I have never had any issues with Phillies fans.  Sure, there is some good natured ribbing, and once or twice I’ve had a curse thrown my way, but I’ve never felt uncomfortable, threatened, or in harms way.  If anything I’ve enjoyed the back and forth banter and it’s added to the games.

I was at the game Monday night, and it was the loudest Mets fan contingent I have heard down here.  The Phillies fans – as is their right in their home – responded with boos and tried to drown us out.  But that’s as far as it got from everything I saw and heard.  On the flip side, there were some Mets fans post game who started mocking the Phillies and their fans using obscene language – just a few, but enough to be noticed.  Quite honestly I was embarrassed.
