First Playoff Game at CitiField

The crowd was electric. The energy was the best I have ever seen at Citi despite the late start time. The crowd was hungry for playoff baseball, something the Mets have gone almost a decade without. The game itself was awesome. Granderson, d’Arnaud, and Cespedes sent the crowd into a frenzy with their hitting last night. It was just amazing. It was great seeing all us fans finally get a home playoff game and a win at the new ballpark.

Now let’s get to the negatives-

I rarely agree with Shannon with CitiField might not be able to hold a crowd, but what was going on at the men’s rooms. I have never see lines that long for the men’s restrooms and so short for the ladies ones before. The crowd walking. I felt like I was in a walker heard from The Walking Dead. People don’t know how to walk. The extended concession lines snaked into the walkways and messed with the traffic flow a bit. I see that Chipotle hired a guy from Starbucks to show how to expedite the lines at the stores. Maybe the Mets need to hire this guy too. I never get why the lines are always so slow at the regular concession stands. Oh, and dos anyone notice the new Budweiser Burger stand down by Two Boots Pizza? Where did that come from?

The complaint about NJ. No one told you to move to NJ. So that complaint is out the window.

The worst part of the night was the start time. It’s just a horrible horrible thing to have an almost 9 pm start time. I hate when Sunday night baseball happens and Insure as hell hate the start times we have been getting.

I was also shocked about how fast security got us though the gates into the stadium. But leaving the stadium forcing everyone up the stairs to the train station to cross over Roosevelt Ave to get to the parking lot was crazy. That was a bigger traffic jam then leaving the lots to head home.

If I didn’t have to work today, I would be at the game again tonight. I enjoyed it. I was glad to be there. I had a great time. If you go to enough games you find out the bathrooms no one uses or which lines tend to move the fastest. It was a great atmosphere last night! Playoff baseball folks is awesome.
