18 Pictures of New York Mets Hall of Fame Day

Media Goon as always takes better pictures than my blurry iPhone shots.  He has something called a “lens” and some sort of “zoom” technology that I should look into.   Anyways…click to make bigger.

Debate: lack of sell out for Mets Hall of Fame game

It’s another steaming day here on the deck at Mets Police HQ – thought I’d see what was happening in the comments section, and it’s a good day to catch up on the inbox shannon@metspolice.com

Opposing view: the case for not attending Mets Hall of Fame Day

Mets Police is to give fans like you a voice.

John sent this letter in.  I obviously don’t agree, but I have plenty of opportunities to share my opinion, thus I yield the floor to John:

While I respect Chris’s take regarding how Mets fans should show up for the Hall of Fame Induction on August

This is wrong. You need to show up Sunday.

I’m really bothered that Mets fans have not decided to support our heroes on Sunday.  This game needs to be sold out.

I understand if you are mad at the franchise, Jeff, Dave Howard, plexiglass, Omar, Ollie, collapses, whatever….I get it.

This isn’t about any of that.

This is about everything we talk about here on the site.

Show Up for the Hall of Fame ceremony or Shut Up!

Chris fired me up.   I have spent the better part of three years giving the Mets grief….they responded…and now you guys are going to leave empty seats next weekend?

SHOW UP OR SHUT UP.  I WANT A SELL OUT!!!!

Here’s Chris:

Shannon,

Just wanted to say that our fan base is pathetic and ridiculously hypocritical. Last year

Piazza wants to represent Mets in Hall of Fame

Missed this one!  (Thanks, Amazin’ Avenue)  Mike Piazza…

“The bulk of my career was with the Mets,” he said, “and after going through the trade, then the drama of 9/11. I’ll never forget my Dodger days. But my time with the Mets is what I’ll remember most about my career.”

Full story in the Times.

A guard told a fan that the Mets Hall of Fame might not be ready for Citi Field Opening Day

Earlier today. Media Goon volunteered to go take some pictures out at Citi Field – he’s one of the biggest “fans” of my photography what with my blurry lens and crooked angle techniques so he headed out to do better than I would.

While there he sent me an email.

Before we get to the email let

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

  • The site at metspolice.com is experiencing technical problems.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…
