Cool Keith Hernandez article from 1999

I stumbled across this cool article from 1999 in which Keith Hernandez talks about the bar scene and his apartment.  Kinda fun!

In the living room, there was a special wine storage refrigerator. Lining the bookshelves were hundreds of hardcovers from the Easton Press Great Books collection. The room also had a 27-inch TV, with dozens

The 1985 New York Mets Yearbook Cover

Now we’re talking…marketing Davey, Dwight (I think he was just starting to morph into “Doc” and Davey.   No room for the right fielder?   $4

Well they did it again…I can’t believe they let Seaver go, and now they want me to root for these imports from other teams.  I bet these two wind up being as overhyped as Hebner and Foster…..and yet another rookie that supposedly is the real deal.  I’ve fallen for that before.  It might be time

Keith Hernandez, First baseman for Cleveland

The Ohio Cards Blog did a nice piece on the ex-captain including:

”This is a new league, a new city, a new stadium and a new challenge,” Hernandez said. ”The Indians pursued me more than anyone else. It’s important to me to be wanted.”

Keith also made this list of the Most Comical Indians

Then of course there

Keith Hernandez walks into a supermarket....

Keith Hernandez walks into a supermarket….and this guy blogged about it

I just grinned and pointed to our advertised specials.

Unfazed (and clearly unimpressed by half-off mozzarella) he kept moving down the aisle, stopping momentarily to eyeball some other products in the cooler. I had to act quickly if I was to make good on this moment

Tours are coming to Citi Field!

Another fun quote from David Howard..this one explains why garbage is good.

Here’s the ugly 2010 Stars and

Keith Hernandez, wiseguys, arm breaking....

The weird week in the world of Keith Hernandez continues:  A former Red Sox player threatened to have…well just watch this video.

“I knew some people, and I had $2,000, and I asked them to break his arms. He said, ‘We’ll do it in two or three years if you want it done, but we’re not

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

  • The site at metspolice.com is experiencing technical problems.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…
