New alternate Mets caps for 2010 #20

Oddly enough, I prefer the black frontin’ cap to the blue…not that I’d ever wear either.

The 1976 New York Mets Pillbox Caps

Hi Shannon–

Mets Yearbook 1976 was on SNY today and I grabbed a couple of screen shots of the Mets wearing those Pittsburgh Pirates-type caps with the stripes along the top. I can’t remember if there had been a debate on this, but it does appear they wore them at the very least on Opening Day

A blue and orange hybrid New York Mets cap

Terence says:

Check out the awesomeness of this cap! THIS is what a Mets Alternate Cap should look like!!!

Weird Mets cap spotted at airport

As I take the conn back from Media Goon, I’m catching up on the inbox.  Got this one this morning while on the tarmac in Chicago….and there will be plenty of Cubs related things (that will make sense in a Mets universe) once I sync my phone and computer.

Shannon,

We are in Chicago and going to

The Hybrid Mets Cap Box

Fascinating video….tip of a blue cap to Uni Watch for posting this last week.  Apparently this is how they pack up the hybrids.

I think I need to make like Burn Notice and dress up like the hat collector….then escape with the box to a nearby firepit.

As part of my financially-neutral position when it comes to

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #15

Well friends, it’s the final installment of New for 2010 Alternate Caps.

I know, I know, 15 straight nights of this – how will you live without it.  Don’t worry you will.

I have saved a good one for last.  Ladies and Gentlemen, the inexplicable “Motto” cap.

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #14

This “TC Tonal Ace” cap looks ok in the picture, might even look nice on your friend Steve.  You do have a friend named Steve, right?

Anyway – this would look good on Steve unless he were actually a New York Met.  If he were a Met I would complain about the NY not popping much

This is called an “Overlay” cap and I cannot find any words…

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #12

Imagine being a dog.  Dog’s cannot see color.  I don’t know if that’s actually true but it helps my narrative.

Now go back to imagining you are a dog and your owner buys you a Mets cap.  It would look like this….the “sub-zero MLB Franchise” cap.

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #10

Two words that should never be used when describing a Mets cap.  Askew and Collider.  This is the 47 Brand “Askew Collider.”

Who buys these?

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #8

Tonight I have two caps….why do the Expos have a better looking cap?   Top to bottom it’s better….the “eb/M” is better than the Mets baseball and the color is just better.  Better being a relative term.  Having 6 months to live is “better” than having three.

Why does the Mets cap look so purple?  Is

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

  • The site at metspolice.com is experiencing technical problems.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…

  • She brought a book. He should have spent money on correct font. The “mail it in” generic blue is the worst.
