Mr. Met gives blood (in pinstripes and blue cap)

The Mets held a blood drive today. I was sorry this one missed my radar, I would have liked to promote it.

Mr. Met gave blood, which leads us to tonight’s caption this photo contest. Ready? Go!

It’s nice to see that once freed from the tyranny of the starting pitchers that Mr. Met

Mr. Met, Pedro and my mom

From 2008…

Today I must tip my cap and publilcly thank the Mets, Mr. Met, and especially Pedro Martinez for something that was very personal.

Saturday was my mom’s 71st birthday. A few thing about my mom. She is a small Irish woman who came here over 50 years ago but still has her accent. Back in

Dating Mr. Met?

Here’s a very entangled post…did someone date Mr. Met II? I don’t know.  I don’t even know how to explain it.  However, you will find it interesting.

I always kind of hoped Mr. Met was secretly some hot chick.  I know, weird right?

My buddy wanted to date Seaver’s daughter who was cute last time we checked

Ceetar who has his own site Optimistic Mets Fan, and who was part of the small but enthusiastic Blue Cap Army (years from now the originals will hold a reunion steak dinner) sent this one over, and last night’s dead cap photo, and has shared his photos from opening day.

Comparing the Mr. Met head in the museum with archival photo

This is not in any way meant to be a bust-chops post.   Someone in the comments said that he didn’t remember Original Mr. Met’s head being that big.  I am absolutely thrilled that the Mets have included Mache Head in the museum, and it looks pretty darn accurate to me!

For more about Original Mr.

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

  • The site at metspolice.com is experiencing technical problems.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…
