Where was Tom Seaver on Sunday?

Please note I asked “Where was Tom Seaver?” not “Where the hell was Tom Seaver?”…

…however, I keep wondering where Tom was.  Perhaps he was visiting family, feeding the homeless, taking a day of prayer, playing golf, tending to the vineyards…maybe he wasn’t invited, maybe he felt is weird since he was in the Red Sox

Mets Police 70's week: Watching Mets Yearbook 1978

I haven’t seen Mets Yearbook 1978 yet but Osh41 has.  You kids that are stressed about 2009 have NO IDEA what bad is.   At least you knew everyone was coming back.  Imagine if Wright, Reyes and Santana were in Reds uniforms.   Here’s Osh…

Mets Yearbook – by the way – how great is this

Mets Police 70's week: Pat Zachry, 1978 Mets All-Star

Sometimes I point out that on paper, if you had to trade Seaver, getting Pat Zachry back looked pretty good.

One day he was 10-3 and on his way to the All-Star Game.   The Wall Street Journal’s really cool sports section takes it form here.

Mr. Zachry, angry at himself, saw a helmet on the ground

Tom Seaver photos inside the Seaver Entrance at Citi Field

When leaving Citi Field, consider taking the elevator that’s between third base and home.  You’ll exit through the Seaver Gate and see these hanging on the wall.

Hey, what’s with that new header image at the top of the blog? It’s the image I will be using for 70′s week.   Randy from The Apple sent it over, and I’m not sure what’s that 70′s about it, the car isn’t for sure but there was sometihng about the color scheme and the

Tom Seaver Day t-shirt from 1988

Hey big thanks to @koyote19 on twitter for sending over this pic (gave me something to work on during Lebron). I remember that day and it feels like not that long ago. 20 years? Wow.

Tom Seaver Struck Me Out

Happy Father’s Day.  Hopefully I am on an undelayed plane on my way home so I will leave you with this true story.

Last year I got to meet Tom Seaver.  I hate being “that guy” so I’m not going to walk up to him and say “I really liked you on the Mets” which I’m

Bad looking cheesy Tom Seaver Mets jersey

Man I really enjoyed Einstein Bagels, I mean Dunkin’ Donuts.

Yep yep sitting on my deck, definitely not trying to pretend this wasn’t pre-written last week.

So if you’re thinking “man, Shannon wrote a lot about jerseys this week, I wonder if he had to write the blog in advance” you are totally wrong.

I’m sure Media Goon’s

I hate Greg Prince from Faith and Fear

I hate Greg Prince from Faith and Fear.  He is a jerkyface.

Why do I hate this man?

I went the whole day yesterday shaking fists of rage “HOW COULD YOU TRADE TOM SEAVER?”

I have been mentioning the Seaver Trade a lot lately.  It’s not like I didn’t know the Mets traded Seaver it’s just that over

They traded Tom Seaver

I took Saturday afternoon and night “off” from blogging – figured Media Goon’s tour would be enough to keep ‘all company…..so how did I relax?

Well how I escaped from obsessing about the Mets was by reading a book.

Which book?

Faith and Fear In Flushing.

Wow.   This is the book I wish I had the ability to

  • My new favorite Met: #13 Mike Nickeas

Again, the site is having major problems…hence the funkiness….what totally sucks was today was gonna be “work ahead” day.  Oh well.

While I try to recover ALL the posts (doh!!!!!!) I’ll continue typing over here in the orange box.

So why is Mike my favorite Met?  Because I love the number thirteen.

(Actually my favorite Met is future Hall of Famer Jon Niese.  I intended to post today about “Mets I like” - but not having a blog at all is sort of screwing with the plan for the day)

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced they selected the contract of catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  To make room on the 40-man roster, the team transferred righthanded pitcher John Maine to the 60-Day Disabled List.  Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for tonight’s game in Atlanta.

Nickeas, 27, began the season at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League, where he hit .283 (75-265) with five home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games.  The 6-0, 210-pound Nickeas joined Buffalo in late August, playing in seven games and hitting .214 (6-28).

The native of Vancouver, Canada originally was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft before being traded to the Mets on August 30, 2006 for outfielder Victor Diaz.

Remember those other 7,000 posts from the last three years?   Media Goon is down in the basement retyping them.

Until he finishes,I will use the Tumblr as a workaround.

metspolice.tumblr.com or just stare right here and ignore that white space on the left.   Might be a while…
