Man, I can’t believe we got destroyed by the Expos.  This team is a joke.  Here we go again.  Gil must go!  Down 11-6 this game isn’t even close.  I can’t believe Seaver only went 5.   At least we have a new ballpark not like the Yankees.

Note the out of town scoreboard.  By 69 the NL has moved to the right side.  In earlier pics the NL is on the left.

Also note the pitchers are represented by scorecard number not uniform number.  You’d look up in your scorecard to see who pitcher #6 for Boston is.  The Cubs were still doing this in 2010.  I think the Dodgers did when I was there in 1998.

On the scoreboard is an ad for 10 minute head.  That makes me giggle for various reasons we won’t get into.  Was foamy beer a selling point?  Is my 2011 beer not foamy enough?

Kranepool will “root for someone else” when Mets suck

Down at fantasy camp, Wally talks about how the Mets shouldn’t worry about the Yankees, and Tim Teufel and Ed Charles also comment – the ear catching quote goes to Ed Kranepool who didn’t pick his words carefully.

Like Mets fans, Kranepool said he only watches the team if they are winning.”I only watch a good product,” Kranepool said. “If they are winning, I will watch, and if not, I turn the station and root for someone else.”I am a Met true and true. I am the only guy who played his whole career with the Mets, Ive got the longest time, longevity-wise … but I still want to see a good ball club.”

I’m gonna guess is that he’s like me and will watch Burn Notice if the Mets are 27 games out in September, or that I “rooted” for the Giants in the World Series.  Probably coulda been better phrased.

I still have an itch to go to Spring Training but all my friends are old and fuddy-duddies.  Nobody has coin or will take a day off from work.

ESPN only ruins two Sundays for Mets fans

The ESPN Sunday Night Baseball schedule (now with less Joe Morgan!) is still an ESPN telecast and is still a Sunday night game so I won’t like it nor will Howie.

May 1, Mets at Phillies.  Another reason for me NOT to renew my Phils tickets (I make ka-ching on Stubhub but am getting bored with Stubhub.)

July 10 Mets at the Formerly New York Giants of San Francisco.

At least they are both road games so Sunday Plus Games You Don’t Want planholders don’t get hosed.

Tom Seaver pitches at Shea…AUGUST 1977 video

Oh my goodness.  I may just pack up the blog right now and call it a career.

Mike from Bayside just sent me the coolest thing ever, and I’m not even messing with Osh41 with this one.

Behold…Tom Seaver, August 1977.  Think about that that means.  Watch, then let’s discuss.

It just looks so wrong. The red. The Reds. It looks unholy. I can deal with pictures of Tom in other ballparks, but there he is, pitching in my youth wearing the wrong color.

What the hell is happening when the ladies are dancing on the dugout?

I am going to watch this video so many times now. I kinda wanna reference a certain video by Lonely Island, that’s how excited I am.
