Mets survey: pride and bread (trust me)

The Mets apparently are surveying fans.

A few of the questions are particularly interesting:

When thinking about the New York Mets, what are the first five (5) words or phrases that come to mind? I think we’ll make that a series of posts using the same question…email me your answers at [email protected]   Please title the email “5 Words” so I can easily sort.

In your opinion, do the New York Mets embody the following attributes and/or possess each of the following qualities? Authentic, Blue Collar, Diverse, Local, Professional, Proud, Reliable, Strong, Successful, Traditional, Trendy, Urban

I am proud to be a fan of the New York Mets. (agree, disagree etc)

Which of the following phrases best describes the New York Mets organization? (Please select up to three responses)
An organization that plays the game hard, the right way, and with respect
A young, hard-working organization that emphasizes a “team” approach
A family-friendly, fan-friendly, fun organization
An organization with new direction and new philosophy
A real, authentic organization that represents New York’s heritage and values
A diverse organization that represents the local area

None of the above

To me this suggests that someone held a “we have bottomed out” meeting.  There seems to be a desire to re-brand the team as professional as opposed to bumbling.  A return to being a respected organization.  I think Sandy so far embodies that. I notice that in all the off-season appearances they are wearing the pinstripes and not the snow-whites and definitely not the black uniforms.   I sense a desire to return a sense of pride to the fan base, and this is the organization’s way of finding out how far the road back will be.

Since the goal of my blog is to encourage the Mets to win a championship while dressed nicely and being respectful of fans, this pleases me.

Thanks to the NY Post and Jeremy Olshan for mentioning the site in their article this morning.

Full survey after the jump.  (As usual when these surveys come my way I choose not to share the link.   I like to foster the discussion, but I’m not out to mess up the Mets’ research efforts.)

(forgive the non-optimal formatting.  I worked on this last night until 10 and then really needed sleep.)

Blue Collar – give me a break. the players are rich. there is no bleacher section, but at least the promenade has a good view generally.

Local – they are in the middle of nowhere, on the far outskirts of the city

Professional – no more or less so than anyone else

    Proud – no

    Reliable – reliably .500

If the bread looked great, I’d be doubly enticed. If the bread looked bad I’d probably not eat it.

Yankees are the premiere sports franchise in NYC, but Mets are important too.

Win or lose, do I support the Mets org? Define ‘support’. I’ll go to games and wear a cap around town.

The Mets are affordable family entertainment. A 15 game package is a lot of money.

The Mets are family friendly? The kiddie field is great. On other hand, why do they keep building so far from Brooklyn? Carrying the kid home from the subway breaks my back.
