Mets Are Wearing Smiles This Spring, at Least on Their Caps – NYTimes.com

The bold is mine.   Interesting that these could turn up in a regular season game.

In the second paragraph please understand how MLB works.  You can “Choose the Mets” all you want but if somebody buys a Jeter jersey or a Diamondbacks cap then Fred, Jeff, Wilpon, Bill Maher and the flowers guy are all getting a piece of the action.

Teams are allowed to wear the new Diamond Era 59Fifty caps during regular-season games, though the Mets declined to say whether they would. New Era and Major League Baseball said that early retail sales of the caps, which cost $34.99 online, have been a hit with fans. About half of the caps available on MLB.com were sold during the first two weeks after they went on sale.

M.L.B. caps have become a growing piece of teams’ financial puzzle. Major League Baseball divides the royalties from the sale of licensed merchandise among the 30 teams. Last year, each team’s share of that pool was nearly $15 million. That is roughly equal to each team’s share of the league’s national television revenue 15 years ago.
