As I’ve said before, you look at the game log, and Santana’s starts for like a good month after the no-no, and I don’t think it’s fair to say that’s what tanked the end of his ’12. Or even what led to his needing surgery again. Everything’s probably always going to be speculation, but if the no-hitter damaged the capsule, I don’t think Johan would’ve pitched the way he did for a solid month afterward. I would blame having to make changes to his mechanics due to having an injured ankle before I blamed the no-hitter.

Good God. The Shannon Beat A Dead Horse Show is back. Get over it.
Johan wasn’t coming out of that game. No way. Yeah, Terry could’ve pulled rank and taken him out, but he’s not that kind of manager. And the medical experts have all said that the 134 pitches had nothing to do with the second torn capsule. It’s Johan’s mechanics that caused the first and second tears to happen. It was an awesome game and I thank God every day that I went after work at the last minute to Citi Field and witnessed it. Incredible!
