Dear Misters Wilpon, the town is here for the taking. Take it back for the Mets.

Dear Misters Wilpon,

The opportunity is yours.

After a long-long run, the Yankees Dynasty is winding down.  The Captain won’t be here much longer.  Andy Pettitte (ignore those pesky Houston years) can’t last forever.  Nobody seems to like A-Rod.  Cano can play but I’m not sensing that he owns the town.

The borderline fan is bored.

The front-runners are looking for somewhere to go.

There are Yankees fans and there are Mets fans.  Then there is teh Wall Street/Hamptons/I only go to cool parties crowd.

Through June 25, the ratings on their YES Network were down 40 percent to 2.52 from 4.17 at this point last season, and from 4.08, 4.50 and 4.72 in the three previous seasons, with each rating point this year representing 73,843 households.

You can have the cool party.  Matt Harvey throws a cool party.  David Wright will be around into the 2020’s.

You need to surround them with a supporting cast.

This is New York City.  The borderline crowd likes stars.  You need stars.

You have the better ballpark for the first time since 1976.  Get asses in the seats.

Open the checkbook.  Let Sandy do his thing.

These windows are small.  You had one in the 60’s and another in the 80’s.

It has been 20 years since the Mets owned this town (thanks 1993 Mets).

Take it back Fred.  Jeff.  Saul.  Bill Maher.  Flowers Guy.

Take it back.
