Hey Steve Cohen, how about meaningful Mets games in MAY?

Steve, bro, what the hell is this?

14.5 back before Memorial Day?

At least Fred Wilpon wanted us to have meaningful games in September, which we mocked.  Now we don’t even get to have them on Memorial Day weekend.

Steve, even the 1978 Mets were WAY better on May 23rd.

Even 1992’s Worst Team Money Can Buy was better.

Steve. you’ve gotten everything wrong.

You fired Buck.  That was you, right? Totally not Stearns. That was what we were told and I believe you to be a man of your word.

You didn’t pick up the phone for one of the shiniest free agents.  Why not take a shot?  If you don’t ask the beauty queen to the prom then she can’t say yes.

You castrated the museum which was actually the best feature Citi Field had.

The dance team is a joke, but I suspect why you had to say yes to that idea, I get it bro, I feel ya.

City Connect wasn’t a disaster, I will give you that one.

But it’s not even Memorial Day and the season is over and the fanbase is checked out. I warned you about the fanbase last September.  It’s gonna get ugly.  That New Rich Billionaire smell has worn off.

So what do I want you to do?

Well – I am going to throw the word culture around as every regime does.

  • Pete has to go.  Every day you wait his value diminishes.  And remind the next guy that Let’s Go Mets does not have an F in it.  That’s about brand.
  • Solve your Lindor problem.  Him having an OK season and a half hid the forgeable sin of turning on the fans.  This one will get ugly if he sucks.  Not hating your customers is about brand.
  • Give David Stearns a 15 year contract.  Stop with the new regime every two years.  Stability is about brand.
  • Give Carlos Mendoza a 15 year contract.  Same note.  Now, it’s kinda obvious he was your “oh shoot what do we do now” panic move and you should never have fired Buck, but this organization needs stability and some sort of ONGOING culture not a new culture every two years.  Brand. The Mets Way, whatever it is, let’s stick with it
  • Tweet ALL the time.  It’s lame when you show up after a three game inning streak and then we don’t hear from you for a month.  You’re not busy when they win, you can fire off a tweet at 10:15pm once in a while.
  • Trade anyone not named Nimmo.
  • Put the museum back where it was and the way it was. Brand.
  • Hire some people in the marketing team who don’t lean into a “If you know NYC” campaign while showing us they don’t know NYC.  It’s 7 TRAIN not 7 Line.  That’s the kind of mistake you make if you’re form out of town and have never taken the subway.  Flushing line, 7 Train.  If you know NYC, you know that.  If you don’t know NYC you think a Dance Team is going to draw fans. Brand.

AND, you’re going to give a press conference admitting this is a disaster and that you’re on the case.  Stand there and take questions for 20 minutes.  Stop hiding out.

THEN declare what kind of owner you are.  If you wanna be George Steinbrenner then I want to hear from you after every sweep in Cleveland.  If you want to be the Maras, thats fine.  It was nice knowing you and we will talk to Stearns and you can go off and run your other businesses and we’ll leave you alone.  Either is OK.  But you can’t be half-in in this town, and right now you’re half-in and your entire product is a disaster.

Right now the brand is a frat boy at first who thinks its funny to drop an F bomb into the prayers, a decade long commitment to a guy who doesn’t like the customers, a dance team, losing faceless baseball, and a new front office every two years.

SOMEONE approved all these hires, and at worst someone approved the hiring of the person making all these hires.

This is your team. You chose to be “Uncle Steve” – well Uncle Steve, your product sucks.  I don’t want to hear that there’s nothing you can do about it until the trade deadline.
