The Mets went oh for three in St. Louis while wearing hideous black uniforms (that said Mets not NEW YORK). Kind of like your softball team might wear.
While I’m on the uniform rag again – put the NY back in the Mets logo. Why did they take that out? Do they think more people come from NJ now that the mets aren’t all associated with New York? (Hmmm, that would explain the jerseys.) Maybe the really are moving to Mercury in 2023?
Traditionally the Mets have only won the World Series while wearing pinstripes. Just sayin’

Hiring Wally Backman is the greatest thing they could do. He could be your Billy Martin. But the Mets always trash their history. Backman, Carter, Tufel and Ray Knight should all be on the staff. Just look at the crap with Gooden’s autograph on the wall that they wanted to take down. It is almost as if they are ashamed of the Met’s history. Or are they waiting for the ghost of Pee Wee Reese to come down or something. You guys have a history, you should really honor it.
I can’t wait for twenty years from now when we can go to Cooperstown for Murphy’s induction into the Hall of Fame. That will be sweet.
