Last night the Brooklyn Cyclones wore a new fan-designed jersey which I really liked.
Joanna Del Priore won the YOUniform Design Contest that the Cyclones sponsored as part of their 10th Anniversary celebration. I only have the one picture (from the Cyclones Facebook page) but it looks very clean (blue pinstripes) and incorporates the Cyclones colors without being garish.
The part I like most though is the new stylized B in the Brooklyn. It’s a bit classic but doesn’t evoke the Dodgers which is a fine line when designing anything for Brooklyn.
If I had to nit-pick one thing about the jersey it would be putting Brooklyn on a home jersey. That said however if the Cyclones were to put this on sale I’d probably buy one.
What’s up with the pinstripe jerseys with the snow white pants? The jersey is nice. But they could’ve at least gone the extra mile and got matching pants. Also, it seems like the Cyclones change their uniforms every year. They do a lot of marketing for a minor league team that has no trouble drawing a crowd. Those games are a nice place to do some day drinking during the summer though.
Why should they get matching pants for a jersey they are using once?
The pinstriped jerseys were only worn for that game and then raffled off to raise money for charity. It wouldn’t make sense for the team to have gotten pinstriped pants since they would only be worn once.
Someone is out there showing that photo to their family and going, “Those are my legs, right there.”
And the pinstripe jersey with the white pants doesn’t look bad at all.
I like this fan-designed uniform. They should adopt it, particularly that B, which should go on their hat.
I’m all for reviving the Brooklyn Dodgers B, but that rather rigid, non-matching C, for Cyclones, makes the hat’s logo way too busy for my taste.
It’s a shame, because this would have been my favorite baseball hat to wear, but it’s just too busy and big.
Gregory makes a good point. I would love to see the Cyclones adopt this jersey as their regular home unis. Classy look with the pinstripes too.
